Reading/Writing Connection Workshop
1–3 Grades
The program is designed to reinforce basic reading comprehension skills while introducing the Writing Process and Paragraph Writing. Students will practice writing narrative, informative/ explanatory texts plus learning how to express opinions in paragraphs.
4–6 Grades
The focus of this program is to review/reinforce Advanced Reading Skills such as: determine main ideas, interpret themes and analyze points of view. Students will respond critically to literary / informational sources in writing. They will learn to take notes, conduct research, evaluate and organize information to create their own essays.
7–8 Grades
Building on students’ prior skills in Reading/Writing, the program will engage students in producing clear and coherent writing which is appropriate to task, purpose and audience.
